William Alderman was born 1811 in New Jersey and died in Indiana in 1889. William married Mary J. (unknown) Swann December 27, 1844 in Union County, Indiana. Mary was born December 1812 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Mary's obituary of 1897 stated she married James Swann in 1832 and he later died in 1839.

Through the years of 1850 – 1880, William's occupation as a Wagon Maker and Farmer was documented in the censuses. By the year 1860, William and Mary had moved to Milan Township, Allen County, Indiana.

William Frank Alderman born about 1846 in Indiana married Matti McKee on June 16, 1875 in Allen County, Fort Wayne, Indiana

Mary J. Alderman, aka "Jennie" was born November 1847 in Indiana. She married Charles Henry Jenness, December 25, 1872 in Allen County, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Charles was born June 27, 1844 in Baltimore Maryland and died about 1920 in Allen County, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Dayton Alderman born about February 1850 in Indiana married Amy E. Swift on June 2, 1872 in Allen County, Fort Wayne, Indiana

Nancy A. Alderman born about 1853 in Indiana

The Fort Wayne Weekly Sentinel, Fort Wayne, Indiana shows the following article relating to William and Mary Alderman.

January 5, 1881

Mr. William Alderman, an aged gentleman residing in Milan township, had the misfortune to fall and break the small bone in his thigh several weeks ago, but it is getting along finely now. Mrs. Alderman is now lying very sick with pneumonia, but is not considered as dangerously ill. Mr. Alderman is the father of Mr. Frank Alderman, the popular Columbia street agricultural implement dealer, and stepfather to Caption Scott Swann. The friend of this estimable couple will regret to learn of their affliction.
