Casper Meyer Dies Tuesday, Rites Set for Saturday

Casper Meyer, 74, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at St. Gabriel's Hospital. A retired farmer, Mr. Meyer was a resident of St. Mary's Villa for the last three years. His wife, Mary (Hoffman), preceded him in death seven months ago.

He is survived by two sons, Edmund, St. Paul Park, and Ervin, Onamia; two daughters, Mrs. Herb (Lyola) Girtz, Park Rapids, and Mrs. Leo (Clarita) Urai, Hillman; and three sisters, Mrs. Peter Gau, Mrs. John Dillenberg and Mrs. Bill Nimsch, all of st. Paul. There are 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, with a Solemn Requiem Mass, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Church with the Rev. John Smerke, Rev. Patrick Thompson and Rev. Robert Voigt officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

The parish will say the rosary at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the Virnig Funeral Home and St. Rita's Parish Rosary will be at 9:30 p.m Friday.

Pallbearers are Richard Meyer, Larry Urai, Gerald Girtz, Harvey Girtz, Ervin Meyer, Jr., and Dale Meyer, all grandsons of the deceased. Honorary pallbearers are John Theis, Ted Girtz, Benrard Eller, Christ Meyer, Casper Kruschek and Joe Urai.
