Rites Held For Mrs Martha Kandel

Martha Kandel, 69, Hillman, passed away at University Hospital, Minneapolis, Sunday, December 28th, at 5:30 p.m. Her death was caused by cancer, from which she had been suffering the last three years.

Martha Meyer was born in Pierz Township, May 30, 1878 and spent childhood, as well as, her entire life in this community.

Her marriage to Frank Kandel took place at Buckman in 1903. Most of her married life was spent on a farm 7 miles southwest of Pierz. Her husband preceded her in death by 15 years. She had been making her home for the past 13 years with her son, Leonard, northeast of Lastrup.

She is survived by one son, Leonard Kandel, R. 1, Hillman and one brother, John Meyer, Buckman.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Nepomuck church, Lastrup, 10 a.m., Wednesday with Father Birk officiating. Interment was then made in the cemetery at Pierz.
