Enoch A Patrick, the son of Gabriel Patrick and Keziah Williams, was born in Putnam County, Indiana. Gabriel Patrick took an original land patent from the goverment in 1825 and the Patrick family lived in Putnam County until moving to Adams Township, Morgan County, Indiana in 1842. Enoch learned the carpenter trade, was a farmer, store clerk, had an interest in a store in Eminence, had an interest in a saw mill and finally returned to the carpentry trade. Elizabeth A Leonard, the daughter of Lawrence Leonard became Enoch's wife in 1857. They had eleven children, only four grew to adulthood. In 1876, a fire destroyed not only his store in Eminence but his home. After the loss of his store and home Enoch later built a two story brick home in 1878 in Eminence. Enoch was a member of the Baptist Church and an active member in the Eminence Masonic Lodge. In 1881 Enoch served as Worshipful Master of Eminence Lodge 440, he was a charter member of that lodge and has the distinction of being the first Master Mason raised in Eminence.
