Starling Harold Brooks, 77, of Flynn, Texas, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, in th Flynn Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Andrews and Rev. Ray Dean Payne will officiate with burial to follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 2, also in the church.
Born June 26, 1937 in Marquez, Texas, he was the son of Starling Harrison and Arrie (Grimes) Brooks. He loved raising cows and enjoyed coon hunting in Kenny Flick with his best friend, Robert Earl. Harold was a gentle giant who deeply loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents,five sisters and their husbands, Ella Brooks, Lois and Earl King, Lucy and JB Cobb, Etta and Jimmy Herron and Dorothy and Tom Mose Harrington and a brother, Roger and his wife, Ethel Brooks.
Harold leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 32 years, Geneva Brooks; seven sons, Stacy and his wife Pam Brooks, Shawn Brooks, JD McBroom, David and his wife Rebecca McBroom, Daryl McBroom, Kevin McBroom and Jimmy and his wife Deanna Wright; three daughters, Terry and her husband, Billy Murnell, Dorinda Smith and Linda Mixon; three sisters, Angie Duncan, Olga Jean Watson and Olphelia and her husband Clayton Walker; 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Clear Creek Cemetery Association.
