Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane McFarling, 90, who died at the Audrain Hospital, were held at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 8 at the Precht Funral Home, Mexico, Mo. Gerald Downey, pastor of Love Street Christian Church, conducted the service, assisted by Calvin Warden, pastor of Kentucky Road Christian Church. Interment was in East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery...
Mrs. McFarling lived in Wessington Springs some 40 years before moving to Mexico, Mo. in about 1937.
Mrs. McFarling was born Aug 4, 1874 in Wapello, Ia., the daughter of John and Ida Smith Swartz. She was a member of the Christian Church and the Rebekahs. She had lived in Mexico for many years.
Survivors include seven sons, Lester and Lee McFarling of Mexico; Bert of Long Beach, Calif.; Harold of Gann Valley, S. D.; Floyd of Kelso, Wash.; Richard of Long View, Wash.; and Curtis of Belleville, Ill.; and six daughters, Mrs. Bland Wright of Mexico, with whom Mrs. McFarling had been living; Mrs. Bertha Woodruff of Wessington; Mrs. Jack Clifton of Marion, S. D.; Mrs. Truman Coolley of Centralia; Mrs. Nelwyn Moran of Norfolk, Nebr.; and Mrs. Ila Meyers of Downing, Calif. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Charles Lunkley of Ottumwa, Iowa.
