Pocahontas Times, June 18, 1925 Mrs. Wallace W. Beard passed away after much suffering and a protracted period of ill health. Before her marriage Mrs. Beard was Miss Virginia Gillian and was born near Frankford, Greenbrier County April 24, 1849. On April 11, 1882, she was married to Wallace W. Beard and afterwards made her home near Hillsboro. She early gave her heart to the lord and united with the Presbyterian Church at Frankford. She transferred her membership to Oak Grove church on her removal to Hillsboro, and was a consistent and interested member until her death. She was a faithful wife and a steadfast and loyal friend. For many years she had been a semi-invalid and unable to attend the services of the sanctuary, but she was always concerned about the welfare of the church.
The funeral was conducted by her pastor Rev. J.C. Johnson in the home of her last days and a large number of sympathetic friends and relatives. At her own request the body was taken to Frankford and laid by the side of her father and mother. For her "death is swallowed up in victory". She leaves a husband feeble with the weight of years to mourn her irreparable loss.
