Patrick died suddenly at the age of 13 while in Spain where his Stepfather (Tom Hasty) was stationed at Torrejon Air Base near Madrid. A simple case of strep throat became deadly from drinking the water out of a local water fountain while at a Boy Scout field trip at the American Embassy, several children came down with hepatitis. He was proceeded in death by his older brother Robert Jay Casey (Hasty) who died in 1963 at the age of 15.
