Hottois was operating his motorcycle at a fast rate of speed, it is reported, and did not see or hear the approaching passenger train. When he was struck, his body was thrown 50 feet in the air and landed in a ditch. The motorcycle was wrecked.
Hottois leaves a wife and two children. He lived at 686 Washington St.
