Benjamin Franklin Abernathy, age 80, of Herrin, IL, died March 7, 2007 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, IL. He was born April 11, 1926 at Lutesville, MO, son of Delmar and Ora Choate Abernathy.
Mr. Abernathy worked as a truck driver.
He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include two brothers; Jim Abernathy and Bud Abernathy both of Cape Girardeau, MO; one sister, Cissy Dugger of Herrin, IL, three grandchildren all of Arnold, MO; and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Angie Deck, and one sister Rosemary Murphy.
Private service will be held at a later date. The final resting place is at the Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill, MO. Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, MO is in charge of arrangements.
