HARRIET L. HEADINGTON
Harriet L. Headington, 97, of West Mansfield died Monday, June 16, 2003,
at Green Hills Nursing Home where she had lived since Dec. 30, 1999.
A longtime junior high school teacher, she had taught many years in
Hackensack, N.J., as well as in Lewistown, Rushsylvania and East Liberty
in Logan County. She was a devoted member of the West Mansfield Church
of Christ and Harriett Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was
proud of her affiliation with the Logan County Teachers Association,
Ohio Teachers Association and National Education Association. She was a
graduate of Bowling Green State University and will be remembered as a
strong-willed and high-spirited woman.
She was born Aug. 4, 1905, in West Mansfield to the late William Clay
"W.C." and Dora Winner Headington and was predeceased by a brother and
sister-in-law, Myron and Margery Headington and sister and
brother-in-law, Dorcas and Ralph Curl.
Survivors include a niece, Beverly (Lee) Prochazka of Basking Ridge,
N.J.; a nephew, W. Daniel (Dody) Headington of Martha's Vineyard, Mass.;
five greatnephews, Matthew, Geoffrey and Andrew Headington and David and
Stephen Jayne; local cousins, Bill (Rita) Headington of Richwood and
Lillian Thornton and Delores Harvey of West Mansfield; a dear friend,
Arlene Bechtel of West Mansfield; and her church family.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the
Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home in West Mansfield. Pastor Willis
Moe will officiate and burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in
West Mansfield.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church in care of the funeral
home.
