Denver P. Black, 84, formerly of Front St., died May 13, 1997, in White Oak Manor. A native of Cherokee Co., he was a son of the late Gerald Elbridge and Martha Jane McDaniel Black. He was a retired department supervisor from Whitney Yarn Mill and was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Bullington Black; four daughters, Frances Hutchins of Boiling Springs, Faye Johnson of Spartanburg, Mickey Carter of West Columbia and Paula Earnhardt of Roebuck; two brothers, Woodrow Black of Gaffney and Marvin Black of Yearington, Nev.; two sisters, Eula Karian of Gaffney and Ollie Killian of York; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m./ today at Sunset Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. David F. Ervin. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. Floyd's North Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
