CHRISTIANA MAN DIES OF BURNS
J. Edwin Trout Loses Life While Burning Brush Off His Truck Path

J. Edwin Trout, eighty-three, Christiana, died at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lancaster General Hospital of burns suffered about 4 p.m. Thursday when his clothing caught fire while he was burning brush off his truck path in the rear of the Christiana Machine Company. Dr. A, V. Walter, county coroner, issued a verdict of accidental death.
Mr. Trout, who resided on Slokum Ave., Christiana, was born in Strasburg Township, a son of the late Abram and Elizabeth Trout. Mr. Trout was a former president of the Christiana borough council and was a former tax collector in the borough for fourteen years. He was a member of the Christiana Fire Company for forty-one years and the Red Men. He also was past president of the Christiana Building and Loan Association of which he had been a director for twenty years.
He had been employed at the Christiana Machine Company for thirty-four years until his retirement in 1931. Mr. Trout was very active for his age and took an interest in gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sadie J. Kemrer Trout; a daughter, Miss Lillian Trout, Philadelphia; a son, Maurice, a school teacher at Pittsburgh, and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Naomi K. Watson, Keyser, W. Va.; Abram F., Lancaster, and Frank G., Christiana. Four grandchildren also survive.
