GREAT BEND, KS — Lillian Katherine Johnson, 96, of Great Bend, Kansas, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation.

She was born April 13, 1907, in rural Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Peter and Carrie Mabel Hansen.

She was a graduate of Chanute High School and attended the Central Business College of Kansas City, MO.

In October of 1938, she married Andrew E. Johnson in Chanute. He died April 3, 1971.

She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Sunshine Mantle Co. and Martin Tractor Co., both in Chanute, KS, and Colgan High School in Pittsburg, KS, retiring in 1985. She moved to Great Bend in 1988.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the St. Patrick's Altar Society, and the St. Patrick's Silver Circle. She volunteered in the Central Kansas Medical Center surgical waiting room.

Survivors include a son, Andrew L. Johnson, of Gainesville, VA; four daughters, Loretto Adams, of Derby, KS, Mabel Lombrano, of Great Bend, KS, Andrea Mary Katherine Johnson, of Los Angeles, CA, and Jane Jardes, of Shawnee, KS; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, George Hansen, and three sisters, Helen Gardner, Mabel E. Simpson, and Josephine Muniger.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Great Bend, Kansas, led by Father Ted Stoecklein. Burial will be Saturday in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chanute, Kansas.
