Born in Sneed Creek area, Wyoming Valley, Wisconsin; daughter of Isaac and Catherine (Salter) Penberthy. Was a schoolteacher in Nobles County, MN before her marriage. Married Oscar E. Buss on March 23, 1880. Died after giving birth to her only child, Enstance Ann. Oscar remarried in 1889 and had 2 more children. Enstance is buried near her brother James, who died of diabetes at age 33, leaving a widow and three children to prove up on the homestead. Enstance Ann's descendants live in Canada at present day.
