William, son of John McLennan, was the first white child born in Cameron, Milam Co., TX. Billy was educated as a lawyer, although he never practiced law, being given 1,100 acres of land near China Springs and a house and lot in each - China Springs, Waco and Cameron as a wedding present when he married Charlsie Harris, formerly of AL, in early 1872. They raised ten children on his China Springs farm on the banks of North Bosque. In the 1940s, his family lived around Fort Worth.
