He was born December 26, 1898, at Kenosha, Wis., son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Rock and moved to Winona 17 years ago.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of the church, Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, Veterans of World War I and the West End Commercial Club.
Mr. Rock married Ruth M. Stracke Nov. 17, 1923, at Racine, Wis. He had been a salesman for Gamble-Robinson Co. for 17 years. He served with the U. S. Navy during World War I and II.
Survivors are: His wife; one daughter, Mrs. Francis (Shirley) Speltz, Rollingstone; two brothers, Leo, Milwaukee, and Alois, Wuakegan, Ill; two sisters, Mrs. William (Josephine) Fitzgerald, Racine, and Mrs. William (Ann) Rolbiecki, Kenosha, and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9 a. m. Thursday at Watkowski Funeral Home and at 9:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. Msgr. R. J. Snyder officiated. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Rollingstone.
Friends may call at the funeral home today. Rosary will be said by the Knights of Columbus at 7:30 and by the Msgr. Snyder at 8. The American Legion will conduct graveside rites. Winona Daily News, Dec. 20, 1961
Funeral services for C. William Rock, 421 W. Sarnia St, were held today at St. Mary's Church, the RTF. Rev. Msgr. R. J. Snyder officiating.
Burial was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Rollingstone. The Rev. S. J. Majerus officiated at the graveside service and the American Legion conducted the graveside rites. Winona Barracks, World War I Veterans, conducted a brief service at Watkowski Funeral Home. Mr. Rock was a member of the United Commercial Travelers.
Pallbearers were: Orren Waudby, Adolph Mrachek, Severt Tindal, Jack Speltz and John and Peter Stracke.
Members of the American Legion firing squad and color detail were: Arthur G. Steffes Sr., Howard W Clark, Donald
Gray, Donald Gray Jr. Herbert J. Honer, Sylvester Verkins, George R Acheff, Emil Bitzan, Helmut Lueck, Frank J. Mertes, William King, Harry Ellison and Edward J Curtis. Robert H. Schuh was bugler.
