ANDERSON A wonderful Christian leader and inspirational human being, Charles "Chung" Adrian Anderson, 74, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd. Graveside services with military honors will be 9:00 am Saturday, June 28, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. A celebration of life service will be 10:30 am Saturday at Kansas City Baptist Temple, 5460 Blue Ridge Cut-Off. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Kansas City Baptist Temple Children's Wing, 5460 Blue Ridge Cut-Off, K.C., MO 64133. Chung was born January 10, 1934 in Kansas City, MO, to George and Wiona (Brown) Anderson whom preceded him in death. He attended East High School. He retired from the Teamsters Union #41 as a truck driver. He was a patriotic veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War era. He was an active member and deacon of Kansas City Baptist Temple leading the People Ministry. He was an accomplished athlete and had won hundreds of medals in the Senior Olympics. He also won numerous diving and boxing contests while serving in the U.S. Army. He was an elementary camp life guard and coached youth softball and basketball for the church and had made Christian mission trips to Taiwan and Africa. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Shirley A. Anderson of the home; son, Mace Carpenter and his wife, Karen, of Fairfax, VA; daughter, Trisha Palmer and her husband, Mike, of Lebanon, MO; brother, William Allen Anderson of Upland, CA; sister, Cheryl Doran of Strafford, MO; 6 grandchildren, Paul Mason Carpenter, II, Sean Paladin Carpenter, Kelly Reece Orion Carpenter, Elle Palmer, Audrey Mae Palmer and Adrian Matthew Palmer; several nieces and nephews.
