"Hugh Wilson Arant died in Greenville Monday. Burial at Weaver Cemetery Tuesday. He was born in Marshall County, Kentucky February 12, 1857, the son of Wilson and Adeline Arant and the last member of that family. His father died when he was only five years old.[lengthy detail of his life in this obituary] In 1882, he married Maggie Dell Soinks of Elmo and four children were born, C. E. Arant, Greenville; Mrs. George Petty, Long Beach, California; John S. Arant, Weslaco and Mrs. W. C. Welch, Dallas, along with twelve grandchildren. His wife died June 30, 1919."
