Mrs. Adeline Catherine Arant, mother of Rev. H. W. Arant of near Tona, died from paralysis at age 81. She was born in Florence, Alabama in 1828. At six years of age, she moved with her parents to Paducah, where she resided til 1849, moving to Texas, locating at Athens. She lived there for one year, then moved back to Paducah with her husband. He lost his life in the Confederate service. Seven children were born, only one survives. In 1880,she moved again to Texas, locating in Kaufman County. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
