Marcus Gipson Busby, affectionately referred to as "Gip" by family and friends, was born in Batesville, Mississippi on October 7th, 1904 to his parents Charles N. and Florence Catherine Bunting Busby. At an early age and remaining there for the bulk of his life, Gip moved to Forrest City, Arkansas eventually marrying Alma Frances Baskins Busby on July, 10th, 1926. To this marriage six children were born: Arlene, Mary Hellen, Daryl Gene, Walter Charles, Bobby John, and Joann. Over the course of his life, Gip was a farmer, St. Louis world war II factory worker and grocery store owner/operator. Gip died at his Forrest City home on June 17th, 1973 (Father's Day) of heart failure. At the time of his death, Gip was survived by his wife, five children, thirteen grandchildren, and two? great grandchildren. To this author, Vohn Busby, eldest son of Walter, grandpa was a wonderful and loving man.
