HIGHGATE James Hanna died at his home in this town June 19 [1892], of cancer of the stomach. He was born in parish Ballymartin, town of Brachney, County Down. Ireland, January 4 and emigrated to America in 1844, settling in Highgate June 4, of the same year, on the farm owned and occupied by him at the time of his death.
Mr. Hanna was a good type of the best Irish-American population, an energetic and patient farmer, progressive and liberal in his views, earnest and pronounced in his love of liberties and privileges enjoyed by himself and fellow countrymen in the land of his adoption, always the champion of the oppressed and a good friend.
