Mrs. E.J. Northcutt, who died suddenly of heart failure, on December 30th,, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clark, near Ontario, was born in Franklin County, Mo., on May 2d, 1833, where she remained till 1865, when she crossed the plains with her family and settle in Oregon, near the Waldo Hills. In the same year she was married to E.J. Northcutt, and in 1877 she removed with her husband to this state, locating near Snake River, where they have since lived. The deceased left and only child, Mrs. May Jackson, of Lewiston, Idaho. She also left a sister residing in Oregon, and a brother in Minnesota.

Mrs. Northcutt was a kind, motherly woman, who had the love and respect of all her neighbors. Mr. Pickel delivered the funeral sermon, and spoke words of comfort to the sorrowing family.
