BENJAMIN WARD OF FRONT ST. DIES

Benjamin F. Ward, 69, retired oil operator and driller in local fields during the active days of the oil industry, died at his home, 832 Front St., Thursday at 2:15 a.m. following illness.

Mr. Ward was born Aug. 11, 1873 at Macksburg, and was a son of the late William and Elizabeth Elliot Ward. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Mary Hedrick Ward, whom he married on Dec. 31, 1911, and two daughters, Mrs. C. O. Dixon of Beverly and Mrs. Howard Schantz of Columbus. J.R. McCahan of Canton is the step-son. Brothers and sisters are J.F. Ward of Elba, Mrs. Jennie Collett of Warner and Mrs. Florence Barlow of Macksburg. There is one grandchild; also three step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Mr. Ward was a member of Marietta Lodge No. 458, Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hadley funeral home. Rev. Karl B. Alexander will officiate. Interment will be made in Oak Grove.
