NEWPORT NEWS – Bob Benjamin Wiggins, 62, of 733 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., apartment 825, died Sunday in Riverside Hospital. Born in Windsboro, La., he was a Peninsula resident for 38 years. He retired from Mathis Taxi Co. and was a master sergeant in the Army during World War II. He was honored with bronze and silver star medals. He was a member of the Newport News Moose Lodge No. 1119, where he was past treasurer, and he was president of the Hampton Road Legion No. 199 and chairman of the Fellowship High Degree. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lorina H. Wiggins; a daughter, Mrs. Sharon Johnston of Newport News; three sons, Bob B. Wiggins Jr. and Mike Wiggins, both of Newport News, and Allen W. Phillips of Palm Bay, Fla.; his mother, Mrs. Anthony W. Wiggins of Jackson, Miss.; four brothers, Raymond Wiggins of Lakeland, Fla., Delton Wiggins of Windsboro, and Issac Wiggins and Calvin Wiggins, both of Jackson, Miss.; and eight grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Weymouth Funeral Home by the Rev. Floyd Lewis of Orcutt Baptist Church and the Rev. V. Allen Gaines of Parkview Baptist Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Luke Cemetery, Smithfield. Moose rites will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and the family will receive friends afterward. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the intensive care unit of Riverside Hospital.
