Carmin "Carin" Schissler

Tribute: Carmin Beverly Schissler was born in Oshkosh, Neb., to Wallace Riley and Eunice (Simpson) Mizell. She came to Greeley in the early 1940s with her mother and brother. In their teens, she and her brother adopted the surname of their stepfather, George Henry Stroh of Kersey. She graduated from Kersey High School.
On Jan. 23, 1955, she married Leland Royce Snyder at St. Paul's Congregational Church, Greeley. They had two children, Michael Lee in 1956 and Terri Lynne in 1959. They later divorced.
In June 1964, she married Theodore Eugene "Teddy" Schissler Jr. in Reno, Nev. On May 10, 1968, they adopted a daughter, Tammi Sue Schissler. After living in Greeley and Northglenn, they moved to Mission, then McAllen, Texas, and finally to Austin.
Mrs. Schissler became an oil painter and sculptress. Her work was shown in several galleries and a church, and one piece appeared on the TV show "Dallas." She taught art privately. In 1975, she changed her name to Carin Sue.
Her husband died Jan. 20, 1993, in Austin.
Mrs. Schissler died Wednesday in Austin.
Survivors: Two daughters, Terry and Tammi; a sister, Suzanne Stroh York of Milliken; a brother, James Roger Mizell of Rowlett, Texas; three half siblings; two stepsons; and three grandsons.
Preceded in death by: Her husbands; her son Michael Lee Snyder; her father, mother and stepfather; a grandmother, Rosalie "Helen" Simpson; and a grandson Matthew Merl Beck.
Services: Rosary, 7 p.m. Sunday, and funeral services, 10 a.m. Monday, both at the Cook-Walden/Forest Oak Funeral Home, Austin.
Interment: Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.
