Mrs. Annie Lee Bickham Ballard, age 91, passed away in Shreveport, La. on Monday, March 24, 2008. A memorial service under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Hosston Baptist Church in Hosston, LA. Officiating was the Rev. Larry Allen, Pastor of the church. A private family graveside service was held.
Mrs. Ballard was born on September 24, 1916 in Shreveport and was a resident of Hosston, Oil City, La and Shreveport all of her life. She was a long-time member of Hosston Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and church secretary. Mrs. Ballard was a member of the Oil City Rotary, Anns and the Hobby Club. She worked alongside her husband at Caddo Pine Island Corporation.
Mrs. Ballard was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, John W. Ballard; her parents, Alexander N. and Annie Teacle Bickham; siblings, A.N. Bickham, Jr., Helen Puckett, Julia Johnson, Francis Bickham, Ruby Baxter, James Bickham, Blanche Bickham, Willie Bickham, and Betty Roberts. She is survived by siblings, Charles Bickham, Mary Robertson, and Jack Bickham; sons, John R. Ballard and wife, Sue, and Pete Ballard and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Sonny Ballard, Beth Ballard, Julie Spencer and husband, Chuck, Jan Griffin and husband, Jason, Mickey Ballard and wife, Sue Ellen, David Ballard and wife, Aimee, Traci Miller and husband, Andrew, Nita Fontenot and husband, David, and Bill Ballard; great grandchildren, Megan and Christopher Stull, Russell and Hannah Miller, Jake Ballard, and Will, Cole and Annie Ballard; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and friends.
