Sylvester Weiss was born in Granite Township MN, son of the late John and Catherine (Eller) Weiss.

He was raised and he grew to manhood in the Lastrup area.

As a young man, Sylvester worked for John Bollig where his interest and talent grew in the Produce and Fur Business.

In 1938 Sylvester started his own business in the Star Building in Pierz.

Sylvester married Mae Schlichting on July 4, 1942 in Royalton.

He then served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945.

In 1946 Sylvester owned and operated a Grocery and Fur business out of 2 railroad cars; until 1955 when he built and operated the Weiss Produce and Fairway Store in Pierz, selling it in 1969.

Since that time, Sylvester continued his interest in the Fur, Hides and Metals Business, operating out of his home in Pierz.

Sylvester was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the K.C.'s, the Pierz American Legion – Post No. 341 (of which he was the Chaplain for many years), the D.A.V., the Little Falls 40 & 8 Club, the Pierz Commercial Club, Little Falls Moose Lodge, Brainerd Elks, and he was also very active politically.

Survivors include his wife Mae; and many nieces and nephews.

Sylvester was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Margaret; Katherine; Amelia; Eleanor and Theresia; and 4 brothers, John; Hubert; Peter and Mike.
