DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Jerome J. Bagge, 85, of Dyersville, died Friday, June 20, 2008, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, after a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 23, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Phil Kruse officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where a parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

He was born on March 3, 1923, in Petersburg, son of Joseph and Clara (Osterhaus) Bagge. He married Imogene K. Grawe on Jan. 25, 1950, in Dyersville.

Together they farmed near Petersburg from 1950 to 1964 and near Dyersville from 1964 to 1986 before retiring in Dyersville in 1986.

Jerome was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1734, a member of Farm Bureau and the Delaware County Pork Producers.

He enjoyed gathering at the Senior Center, playing cards with his neighbors and friends and collecting toy tractors.

Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Imogene; sons, Kenneth, of Iowa City, and Loras (Jolene), of Dyersville; a daughter, Janet (Ed) Putz, of Petersburg; seven grandchildren, Brian, Krystal, Tim and Nicholas Bagge and Brad, Jeremy and Brittany Putz; five sisters, Alice Boeckenstedt of Dubuque, Pearl Koelker, of Hiawatha, Jeanette Tauke, of Dyersville, Priscilla (LaVern) Moorman, of Strawberry Point, and Mary Ellen Hoefler, of Lamont; a brother, Daniel (Myrna) Bagge, of Dyersville; three sisters-in-law, Carol Bagge and Mercedes Maiers, both of Dyersville, and Madonna Wulfekuhle, of Manchester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leon; two sisters, Mila and Betty Bagge; brothers-in-law, Albert Boeckenstedt, Omer Koelker, Cletus Tauke, Arnold Hoefler, Gerald (Aurelia) Grawe, LeRoy Wulfekuhle and Ambrose Maiers.
