He was born in Pickens County, and was a son of the late Burris E. and Marie Howell Brookshire.
Mr. Brookshire was retired from management at Kendall Mills in Edgefield, was a member of Campbell Masonic Lodge No. 44, a member and former deacon and Sunday School Teacher of Calvary Baptist Church and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Mary Rhodes Brookshire, of National Health Care in Laurens; one son, Ronnie Brookshire, of Clinton; two daughters, Dolores Brookshire Dillingham of Columbia, and Gayle Brookshire Thompson of Clinton; one sister, Ella Brookshire Terry, of Greenville; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11am at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
