Herman E. Wittenberg Sr., 94, Kansas City, KS, died Friday, August 27, 2004, at Providence Place. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the National Rifle Association. Herman was born December 21, 1909 in Kansas City, KS and was a lifelong area resident. He had worked at the Kansas City Southern Railroad for 47 years, retiring as an assistant purchasing agent in 1974. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Feryne Wittenberg in 2000. He is survived by three sons and their spouses, Herman and Neva Wittenberg Jr., McLouth, KS, Robert C. Wittenberg, Cleveland, MO, Donald and Diana Wittenberg, Surprise, AZ; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Art Reece, Harrisonville, MO; 13 grandchildren, David, Ronda, Stacey Lynn, Danny, Robert, Debbie, Staci Dawn, Shelly, Sean, Jodi, Sheila, Sandy and Rodney; and 17 great-grandchildren.
