Alice K. Newswanger, 89, of 1195 Reading Rd., Bowmansville, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Ephrata Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, David S. Newswanger in 2001.

Born in Brutus, MI, she was the daughter of the late Abram and Fannie (Kilmer) Ringler.

A homemaker, she was also a member of the Bowmansville Old Order Mennonite Church.

Surviving are five sons: Leroy R. and Leon R. married to Diane (Weaver) Newswanger, both of Bowmansville; John R. married to Mabel (Horst) Newswanger, Roaring Spring; Earl R. married to Alta (Zimmerman) Newswanger, Pembrooke, KY; Amos R. married to Edna (Zimmerman) Newswanger, Martinsburg; four daughters: Elsie R. married to Morris Ramer, Syracuse, MO; Ruth R. Newswanger, Bowmansville; Susie R. married to John Aaron Shirk, Goodville; Fay married to David R. Esh, Sarasota, FL; 51 grandchildren; 85 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a brother Samuel K. Ringler, East Earl and a sister Alma K. married to Jason Weaver, Fleetwood.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lester R. married to Bertha (Martin) Newswanger, Wakarusa, IN; three great grandchildren and seven brothers and sisters.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 9 AM at her late home with further services at 9:30 AM at Bowmansville Mennonite Church with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at her late home on Sunday from 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM. Kindly omit flowers.
