Born June 20, 1920 in DuBois she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Julia O. (Hollopeter) Clouser.
She attended DuBois Area Schools.
In 1938 she married George W. Rath who preceded her in death in 1984.
Essie was retired from B.F. Goodrich in DuBois, PA after many years of service.
She enjoyed camping, walking, reading her bible and spending time with her family.
Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Thomas (Mary Alice) Kelly of Brockway, Mrs. James (Georgia) White of DuBois and Mrs. Walter (Elizabeth "Libby") Skrzypek of DuBois; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters: Mrs. Max (Avonell) Pifer of Big Run, PA and Mrs. John (Imogene) Ball of Vienna, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by four brothers: Sylvester, Charles, Theodore and James Clouser and four sisters: Arveda Logan, Vera Landis, Madeline Cox and Annabelle Updyke.
A private visitation and private funeral service were held.
Burial was in Morningside Cemetery.
