Son of Emile K. and Sarah E. Stevenot and the grandson of Gabriel K. Stevenot, Calaveras County pioneer who pitched tent there in April, 1850.

Student, salesman, miner, rancher, post master, school board member and general superintendent of the nearby Carson Hill Mine, he spent a productive lifetime in the Mother Lode region. He established the Mother Lode Highway Association in 1919, serving as president or director until 1950 when it joined into the Golden Chain Council. One of the organizers of the California State Chamber of Commerce.

"Supreme Noble Grand Humbug of the Grand Council of E Clampus Vitus". Archie was born in Carson Hill. His family was historically involved in the beginnings of the borax industry in California.

Archie Stevenot, miner, cowboy, rancher, postmaster, and ox team swamper, helped found the California State Chamber of Commerce and was officially named "Mr. Mother Lode" by the California legislature.

He was also the founder of the "Mother Lode Association" in 1919, which was the first highway association and promoted the assignment of the number "49" to Route 49

The Mother Lode Association with his prodding was primarily responsible for State Route 49 being created. He was honored with the bridge across the Stanislaus River between Tuolumne and Calaveras counties on SR 49 being named the "Archie Stevenot Bridge".

His birthplace has also been declared a California Historical Landmark with the notation "Mr. MotherLode". Early California Historian and Early California statesman.
