The daughter of Madison Kerns Bennett & Addie Eales Bennett was born November 2, 1883 in Cherryvale, Kansas.

She married handsome John Brown Spurlock in 1903. John was born in 1889 and died in 1916 from tuberculosis.

Galena, KS, November 3, 1950 – Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Spurlock Mansell, 67 years old, who died Wednesday afternoon in Camdenton, MO, will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Derfelt Funeral Home here, with the Rev. S. D. Gibson, pastor of the First Baptist Church in charge. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Word was received here yesterday of the death Wednesday of Mrs. Lula May Mansell, 67, formerly of Kansas City at her home at Camdenton, MO. She was the wife of George N. Mansell, a former employee of the Park Department in Kansas City. She lived here from 1928 to 1945. Surviving also are five sons, Truman G. Mansell, 2012 Denver; Gerald L. Mansell, 553 Stonewall Court; Francis N. Mansell,
558 Stonewall Court, and Staff Sgt John B. Spurlock and Don B. Spurlock, both of Vallejo, California; a daughter, Mrs. Jeanne Humpf of the home; two brothers, John K. Bennett, Sacramento, Calif, and Earl Bennett, Baxter Springs, KS and two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Derfelt, Galena, KS and Mrs. Grace Sharp, Stockton, California.
