Mulberry Man Changes Towns after Son Death
Lamar, Sept 17, Grief-stricken by the death of an 8 month old baby boy at Mulberry, Kas., Edgar Bean, proprietor of a chain of variety stores, has trasferred his Mulberry store to Greenfield, Mo., and is moving three residences overland from Mulberry to a 10-acre tract adjoining Lamar on highway 71.
One residence will be occupied by Bean and his wife, another by Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Crites, parents of Mrs. Bean, and the third by Joe Ballarina and family. One house already has been moved.
Ballarina will be caretaker of a warehouse which Bean is constructing. Bean's other stores are at Lamar and Arcadia, Kingman and Arma.

Lamar, MO - Edgar Bean 69 years old, of Lamar, died in the Barton County Memorial hospital here at 4:35 o'clock Tuesday afternoon where he had been a patient one day.
Born in Coffeyville, Kan., March 16, 1895, Mr. Bean operated Bean's Ready-to-Wear store in Lamar. Moving here in 1935 from Mulberry, Kan., he had at one time owned a chain of variety stores in Arcadia, Mulberry, Arma, Kingman and Garnett, Kan., and in Greenfield Mo. A World War I veteran, he was a member of the Oakton Methodist church, AMerican Legion and Lamar's World War I veteran's organization.
He was married to Lois Crites on May 24, 1922, in Girard, Kan., Besides his widow, survivors are one son, Sherrell Bean, Lamar, and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Bruce-Konantz chapel. The Rev. Alfred Rodewald will officiate and burial will be in Farlington, Kan.
