Joseph C. Holmes
Joseph C. Holmes, 81, of 147 Main Street, Springvale, died Saturday in a Sanford nursing home after a short illness.
He was born in Springvale June 3, 1892, son of Charles and Flora Lemire Holmes, and was a retired textile employee. Mr. Holmes was a veteran of World War I, a communicant of Notre Dame Church, a member of Poirier Council, Knights of Columbus, Thomas W. Cole, AL and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are a stepson, Armand Jalbert of South Portland, two stepdaughters, Mrs. Roland Corbeil of Biddeford and Mrs. Henri Cote of Westbrook, two brothers, Louis Holmes of Springvale and Ernest Holmes of Concord, NH, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Prayers were said Tuesday at the LaFrance-Boisvert Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, followed by a Funeral Mass at Notre Dame Church. Interment was in Notre Dame Cemetery, Springvale.
