Elsie Flora Swigart, 90, of Payette, ID, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 at Holy Rosary Medical Center, Ontario. Memorial Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to the family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Elsie was born July 17, 1917 in Magnolia, Iowa to Thomas and Effie (Donnelson) Giddings. She graduated from Payette High School. On Oct. 7, 1938, Elsie married Carl Raymond Swigart in Payette. She was a member of the Harmoney Rebekah Lodge #22, Emblem Club #1690, and the Sunshine Club. Elsie enjoyed doing ceramics and reading. "Gram" or "GG", as she was called by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved her family. Her parents, Thomas and Effie Giddings; her husband, Carl Swigart; and a granddaughter, Candace Standefer preceded her in death. Elsie is survived by her three daughters, Carol (Lee) Wilson of Baker City, OR, Betty (David) Freeman of John Day, OR, and Wanda (Tom) Newton of Caldwell, ID; a brother, Alonzo Giddings of Oregon City, Ore.; a sister, Marcella Wilson of Weiser, ID; four grandchildren, Jodie Kester, Amy Freeman, Hobart Newton, and Chelsea Newton; seven great -grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
