ROCK HILL - MRS. JULIET ANN EKDAHL BARNETT, 89, of 1330 India Hook Road, #418, slipped away quietly on June 21, 2007. She was born July 9, 1917 in Williamson County, Texas, the youngest child of Carl and Anna Ekdahl. She brought great joy to her parents and to many other people during her near 90 years. Juliet graduated from Georgetown High in Texas; Seton School of Nursing in Austin, and the University of Texas with a degree in Nursing Education, She was commissioned in the US Naval Reserve and saw active duty in WWII as a nurse and in the Korean War as a nursing instructor for her beloved navy corpsmen at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. She married Hugh A. Barnett, Jr. on April 11, 1953 in First Lutheran Church at Portsmouth, VA to be a wonderful wife for over 54 years. Juliet was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Free Church and was an active Lutheran for the past 55 years. She was a truly loving follower of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Hugh; her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and the Rev, Ray Mohrmann; her grandchildren, Laura and John Mohrmann, all of Rock Hill; her niece, Grace Koch and family; her nephews, Wilburn Ekdahl, Darrell Ekdahl and family, all of central Texas; her first cousin, Astrid Sahlstrom and other relatives in the area of Skara, Sweden.

Burial is to be in Eliam Cemetery, Melrose, FL, among Barnett family graves. A memorial service will be 4PM Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church with Ray Mohrmann officiating. The family will receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 426 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29730 or Westminster Towers Endowment Fund, 1330 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 10:00AM at Eliam Cemetery, Melrose, FL with Rev. Ray Mohrmann officiating. Arrangements are under the care of MORING FUNERAL HOME, Melrose, FL, 352-475-2201.
