Mr. Welch was born August 4, 1936 in Arcadia, La. He passed away at home with family on February 16, 2006 after a long courageous battle with lung disease. He was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. He proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1963. He was retired from Bird and Son Roofing with 40 years of service. Most of all he was a loving son, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Myrtis Welch, one grandson, Robert Ernest Adkison, one daughter, Maylynne Welch, nephew, Dalton Greening, all of Shreveport, La.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Melissa Hall and husband, Michael; one sister, Mildred Greening and husband, John, all of Shreveport, La.; one brother, Bobby Welch of Jacksonville, Fl.; one niece Penny Richardson and husband Ricky, great nephews and nieces, Matthew, Christopher, and Cailey Richardson, all of Shreveport, La., and Charles Welch and wife Kelly and their daughter, Maggie of Falston, Md.
The family would like to thank Dr. Loyd Whitley and staff of Schumpert Hospice for their exceptional love and care, especially to Ernest's girls as he called them, Robin Watkins, Rn, and Debbie Purvis. The family would like to also thank Rev. Marty Wright and the the members of Pincroft Baptist Church for their support and prayers.
