Archie M. Barnes, 75, Dies Today
Archie M. Barnes, 75, a resident of Bartholomew county only since December, died today at Veterans hospital in Indianapolis following a 5-year illness. He lived on Route 4.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Reed funeral home by the Rev. Donald Brower. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery. Persons may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Born in Columbia, Mo., Feb. 13, 1893, Mr. Barnes was the son of Daniel and Harriett Brown Barnes. He married the former Sue Owens Feb. 7, 1928. He was a veteran of the first world war and a member of the Christian church. He spent most of his life in Oklahoma and Texas.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Archie C. Barnes with the Army in the Panama Canal zone and Bill Barnes of 3021 Beech drive and seven grandchildren.
