Reverend Thomas Riley Cooper, Associate Pastor of the Cherokee Home Mission, was born on February 11, 1942 to Preston and Lena (Smith) Cooper in Fort Gibson, OK. Tom fought a good fight, kept the faith, and finished his course on June 14, 2008 in Muskogee, OK.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in May 1960 after graduating from Tahlequah High School and served his country for sixteen and one half years. He was married on December 20, 1960 to Loretta Rowan in Fort Gibson. Tom enjoyed reading, singing gospel music, and fishing with his two fishing buddies, Billy and Jonothan Dallis. Tom enlisted in God's Army on October 31, 1973 and became a warrior for God. His ministry took him many places to spread God's word to others in song, with his wife and daughters, and preaching wherever God would lead him. The family toured with his brother, Zane, and family for three years from Florida to Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife, of 47 and a half years, Loretta of the home, four daughters and their husbands, Lena and Jim Krops of Muskogee, Sally and Roy Brock of Cairo, GA, Thomissa and Robin Sparks of Greenville, FL, and Reverends Cindy and Billy Dallis of Keys; eight grandchildren, Mari and Brian Walker of Okay, Jayne and Allen Yochum of Fort Gibson, Karrie Jo and John Bowden of Collinsville, VA, Marchael Brock of Cairo, GA, Specialist Travis Sparks, currently serving in Iraq, of Greenville, FL, Roy Riley Brock of Cairo, GA, Meri and Jonothan Dallis of Keys; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Christopher, Michael and Hannah Bowden of Collinsville, VA; two brothers, Zane and Linda Cooper of Depew, OK, Faron Cooper of Crawfordville, FL: seven brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, Marlin Howard of Florida, Leon and Rhea Rowan of Broken Arrow, Jerry Rowan of Muskogee, Dale and Karen Rowan of Skiatook, Priscilla and Milton (Boo) Fields of Fort Gibson, Joyce and David White of Mission , TX, Diane Rowan of Muskogee, and Norman and Joyce Rowan of Dustin; three aunts, Lucille Cooper of Fort Gibson, Lorena Patterson of El Mirage, AZ and Sadie Ravan of Kalispell, MT: 10 step grandchildren, 13 step great-grandchildren, 12 nieces, 10 nephews, one special debate friend, Bill Kenny; one special prayer partner, Brooklyn Barnett and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Raymond Rowan, sisters, Patricia Howard and Nelda Cooper, and two great-grandchildren, Brett Dallis and Kaylynn Dallis.

Services for Reverend Thomas Cooper will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Gospel in Fort Gibson. Interment will be at the National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. Services provided by Williamson Funeral Home of Wetumka, OK.
