Mrs. Carrie Applegate Dies at Home

Mrs. Carrie Edna Applegate, 77, of Jonesville, wife of Charles W. Applegate, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday at her home. She had been in ill health a week, but her death was unexpected.

Operation Life emergency ambulance was called to the home, and Mrs. Applegate was dead upon arrival of the ambulance.

A resident of Bartholomew county 34 years, Mrs. Applegate was born in Wells county, Nov. 8, 1888, to Jacob L. and Mary L. Thrailkill Eilar. She and her husband were married May 11, 1911. Mrs. Applegate was a member of the Firemen's Auxiliary in Franklin.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Barkes and Inlow funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Marshall Tolle. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery. Persons may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Survivors are the husband; a son, Walter Applegate of Elizabethtown; six daughters, Mrs. Wilson Broaddus of Elizabethtown route 1, Mrs. Vearle Richardson of 1519 Chestnut street, Mrs. Ed Bohall of Franklin, Mrs. David Weed of Route 1, Mrs. Lyle Heitman of 1728 Hawcreek avenue and Mrs. Wanda Land of 1102 Twenty-third street; a sister, Miss Lula Eilar of Austin; nine grandchildren and two great - grandchildren. A daughter and three brothers preceded her in death.
