I adopted Miss Cleo from a "no kill shelter" in New Jersey; she was a feral cat but very well socialized to people. She was the friendliest cat I ever knew. Have you ever seen a cat that runs and hides when strange people come to the door? Miss Cleo was the opposite! If someone rang the door bell she would run to the foyer to see who was coming! She always wanted to be the center of attention, she would jump on a table or chair and would seem to say "look at me!".

Everyone remarked on her unbelievably outgoing personality. She would strike adorable poses as if to say "look at me, I'm so cute!" Miss Cleo loved to be petted and stroked but for only a minute or two, then she would give you a little playful bite to say "Enough!"

In November, 2007, a careless house guest left the door open and Miss Cleo ran out, never to return. Every effort was made to find her but to no avail. She had a collar with a tag, but noone ever called. Philadelphia is a big city and a dangerous place for a cat so I can only assume that by now she is gone. I pray that maybe some loving family found her and adored her so much that they would not give her back despite having the ID.

Losing her is a little like a parent whose son went away in the military to a war and listed "missing in action." You never know what became of him, what was his fate. I'm not trying to trivialize or compare the devastating tragedy of a loved one missing in action during war, but I'm so frustrated and anguished over the disappearence of Miss Cleo. Where ever she is I hope she has or will attain Kitty Nirvana.
