Harry B. Bland, 75 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, June 12th, 2008 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
Harry was born in Nancy, Kentucky on December 1st, 1932, son of the late William Walker and Julia Burkett Bland. He worked as a diesel mechanic and was owner/operator of Harry's Wrecker Service for 26 years. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Corporal. He was a member of the Langdon Street Baptist Church for 51 years, serving as Deacon for 19 years and a Sunday school teacher for the Pre-Teen Boys and Men's Class.
Harry was survived by his wife, Barbara Rutherford Bland, whom he married in Somerset, Kentucky on November 22nd, 1956 with Dr. I.K. Cross officiating; two daughters, Karen (and Darrell) Hart and Lori Barber (and Tim Wesley); three grandchildren, Kimberly Hart Molden (and Kenneth Dowden), Sarah Hunter, and Nathan Anderson (and Latasha Wesley); five great-grandchildren, Austin Molden, Hailey Molden, Braden Molden, Madison Dowden, and Octavia Anderson; two step-grandsons, Stephen Michael Wesley and Preston Allen Wesley; one sister, Roxie Lyons; one brother, Norman Bland; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Walker Bland and Julia Burkett Bland; four brothers, Avert Bland, Willie Bland, Delrue Bland, and Albert Bland; two sisters, Versie Watson and Wilmerth Henderson; and an infant great grandson, Devon Chase Dowden.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 16th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. James Floyd officiating.
Burial followed in the Ringgold Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.
