Elsie Grace Tarter Walters, 80, of Crockett died Friday, June 6, 2008. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 8, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Donald Stansell officiating. Interment will follow in King's Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born May 7, 1928, in Wythe County, daughter of the late John Shuff and Elsie Etter Tarter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howell W. Walters, and a brother, John R. Tarter. Survivors include a son, Jerry Walters of Wytheville; a sister and husband, Nellie T. and Charles C. Catron of Salem; a sister-in-law, Zelma Tarter of Crockett; a granddaughter, Shelia Sizemore, and husband, Curtis, of Atkins; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
