He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He retired from the Department of Energy after 16 years, and previously worked for Redding Chevrolet of Thurmont, and Key Chevrolet of Frederick.
He enjoyed the hobby of antique cars and he enjoyed playing Parcheesi and going on bus trips.
In addition to his loving wife, Bernice; he is survived by four children; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John William and Mary Margaret Stamer Davis; a daughter, Deborah Ann Davis; a brother, Roy Davis; and two sisters, AnnieBelle Davis and Irma Davis.
