Catherine Abeln was born on June 7, 1919 in Bellevue, Iowa, daughter of John and Josephine Hager Abeln.

She attended school in Bellevue and Maquoketa. She married Arnold W. Yoerger on April 11, 1939 in Bellvue, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1989.

Catherine was a nurses assistant for many years in Dubuque. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa, and later the Blessed Sacrament in waterloo, where she served as a lay minister. She loved to travel, enjoyed all kinds of crafts and spending time at the Senior Center.

She is survived by her children, Phyllis & Darrell Clark, of Westcliffe, Colorado, Diane Hensley, of Waterloo, and Arnold & June Yoerger, of DeWitt; six grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-gandson; and on sister, Betty & Vincent Goedert, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter, Mary in infancy, and two sisters.

Catherine Yoerger, 88, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Maquoketa, died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Windsor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Falls, following a brief illness.
