Mr. Childress was born August 5, 1921, at Lincoln, Arkansas, the son of Bill and Mary Jane Ozbun Childress.
He was a retired truck driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Haley of Verona, Larry Childress of Strafford and Jerry Childress of Aurora; three daughters, Margaret Clark and Brenda Bliss, both of Aurora, and Darla Ritchie of the state of Florida; one sister, Ruth Ross of Neosho; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
One brother, Jim Childress, preceded him in death.
Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 13, at Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, under the direction of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 12, at the funeral chapel.
