He was born Feb. 20, 1929, the son of Edwin Rogers and stepson of Helen Vaughn in Twisp. He spent his early years there and attended school.
Mr. Rogers joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. After his discharge, he was a chef at the Methow Cafe and later moved to Seattle, where he was general manager for the Hotel-Food-Beverage, American West chain.
He married Betty Nelson on Aug. 19, 1960, in Seattle. They moved to Spokane in 1973, where he managed the Davenport Hotel. In 1989, he managed the Virginia City Hotel. He also worked at the Riverview Youth Center in Spokane after his retirement. They moved to Davenport in 1990.
Mr. Rogers was president of the Hotel and Restaurant Association in Portland for the state of Oregon.
Survivors include his wife, at the home; a daughter, Connie Rogers, Beaumont, Texas; a stepson, Michael Barcus, San Antonio, Texas; a stepdaughter, Laurie Gsell, Milwaukee, Ore.; his stepmother, Helen Vaughn, Pateros; a brother, Hank Rogers, Twisp; two sisters, Mari Ann Burns, Selah, and Helen Serfass, Coos Bay, Ore.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
